How to price a sponsored post
Price a sponsored post from three parts: the views the brand can expect, the work you put in, and any extra rights the brand wants. Start from your recent average views, add production time, and charge separately for ad usage rights, rush delivery and extra revisions.
Updated
1. Start from expected views
Take the median views of your last ten comparable videos, not your best one. Decide what a thousand of those views is worth for your topic and audience country, and multiply. Niche audiences that buy are worth more per view than broad entertainment.
2. Add the work
A post made from the brand's footage costs you an edit. A video where you write the script and storyboard costs days. Price the work so that a longer package is clearly more expensive than a shorter one.
3. Charge separately for rights and speed
| Add-on | Why it costs extra |
|---|---|
| Ad usage rights (30, 90, 365 days) | The brand runs your video as its own paid ad. |
| Rush delivery | You reorder your schedule. |
| Extra revision | Each round is more work. |
| Cross-post or pinned link | More placements, more value. |
4. Publish it as packages
Brands decide faster when the choice is between two or three packages than when they must ask for a quote. Keep one entry-level package, one standard, one with full script and storyboard review.
Public or private rates?
Public rates bring more orders with less talk. Private rates protect you if your price is sensitive. A middle path is to show rates only to advertisers who have funds on deposit or a verified business — on Sponmi the deposit threshold is ₩300,000 or $200.
Questions
- Should I charge by subscribers or by views?
- By views. Subscribers do not tell a brand how many people will see the post; recent views do.
- How often should I change my rate?
- Review it when your typical views move for a month or more. On Sponmi a channel's base rates can be changed once every 30 days.
- Do I charge extra if the brand reuses my video as an ad?
- Yes. Usage in paid ads is a separate right with a term and a territory, and it is normally priced on top of the post.
